Meet the Teacher

Curriculum Information 

In Autumn term, the children in School Nursery will begin to explore a variety of Nursery Rhymes each week. The children will be learning a variety of skills focusing on prime areas of development which are: Personal social and emotional development (PSED), Communication and Language Development (C&L) and Physical Development (PD). Children will learn through a highly engaging learning environment where children can explore and be creative with their peers and supported by experienced adults. Children will also be developing in other areas of development such as Math’s, Literacy, Understanding of the World and Expressive Arts and Design gaining confidence and independence in their own learning.

Our School Nursery will begin Phase One Phonics gaining their knowledge and skills focusing on Aspects 1-4.

Phase One Phonics:

  • Aspect 1 (Environmental Sounds)
  • Aspect 2 (Instrumental Sounds)
  • Aspect 3 (Body Percussion)
  • Aspect 4 (Rhythm and Rhyme)

Homework

Nursery children will be given their home learning challenges on a Friday to be brought into school or via Dojo the following Wednesday by 9.00am. Reading should be carried out daily to help your child improve their imagination. 

School Uniform

All children are required to wear their full school uniform (including black school shoes) each day please, washed as much as possible. PE kits are necessary on your child’s set PE day, this will be a Monday for the Nursery children. The children should come to school on their PE day wearing their full PE kit. 

Key Information  

  • Your child will need their own filled water bottle in school each day which needs to be taken home every day, to be cleaned.
  • Your child will require their trainers/pumps, every day (in a named plastic bag).
  • No pencils cases – your child will have their own equipment pack in school.
  • A warm coat.
  • Fruit will be provided in school (do not bring your own in).  
  • Pocket tissues and an individual hand gel will be allowed. 

Packed Lunches – FSM (Free School Meals)

A Free School Meal (FSM) will be provided to those children who are entitled to one. Pupils in Reception and Key Stage One will receive a school meal, free of charge, under the Universal Infant Free School Meal (UIFSM) policy. All meals provided in school will be a choice of a healthy packed lunch or a hot meal.  At this time, we will not be accepting any cash payments to provide your child with a school meal. As always, we remain a healthy school and would ask that you please do not send in fizzy drinks or sweets in your child’s lunch bag.
