In our Design and technology curriculum we support children to be creative and imagination, allowing children to design and make products that solve real and relevant problems within a variety of contexts, considering their own and others’ needs, wants and values. The children use a broad range of subject knowledge to create and draw on disciplines such as mathematics, science, computing and art. Children learn how to take risks, becoming resourceful, innovative, enterprising and capable individuals. Through the evaluation of past and present design and technology, children develop critical understanding and learn to be reflective.
Our curriculum role model is: Marguerite Patten

At Golborne Community Primary School, we have developed our own, bespoke sequenced and progressive curriculum for Design Technology, tailored specifically to meet the needs of our pupils. It is fully aligned with the National Curriculum and shaped by our ambitions and the key knowledge we believe to be the most essential.
While the full curriculum documentation is not published online, it is available to review on request at the school.
These documents are correct as of September 2025. We continually review the finer details of the curriculum content to ensure it meets the needs of our pupils. As a result, these ongoing small changes may not be reflected in the above documents.
